SCILNet launches new international programs
To recognize the importance of it’s global projects and partners, the Stanford Center for Innovations in Learning (SCIL) this spring announced the formation of SCILNet. The new international program was established to facilitate SCIL’s position as a global hub and gateway to research and development activities in the learning sciences, innovation, and technology.
The SCILNet program works to establish research collaborations between international organizations and SCIL/Stanford via grants and contracts from governments, foundations, and corporations. One key area of interest is the use of innovative and appropriate information and communication technologies in underserved communities and developing countries.
The objective of SCILNet relationships is to broaden and enrich the intellectual reach of individuals, programs, and institutions by widening their community and increasing their diversity.
“In today’s world, the opportunity to broaden our approach to education, teaching and learning has never been greater,” says Reinhold Steinbeck, Director of SCILNet. “Together we need to build bridges that allow us to address the great issues facing the world today. SCILNet is attempting to do exactly that.” …
Participants in the SCILNet program benefit from the following opportunities:
- Becoming part of a select network of knowledgeable peers from diverse institutions;
- Collaborating with academic leaders in the field of innovation, learning sciences, and technology;
- Gaining preferred access to conferences and topical mini symposiums at Stanford;
- Receiving early updates on ongoing SCIL research projects;
- Enjoying increased fund-raising potential for joint research initiatives;
- Participating in the visiting scholar program;
- Shaping the rapidly evolving landscape in e-learning and innovation;
- Developing joint publications.
Currently, SCILNet projects include collaborative efforts in Sweden , Russia , Switzerland , and South Africa .
