Assessment Paradigms
Dan
Schwartz, professor of education and leader of the SIG:Assessment
explored some pioneering methods for learning what students
learn at the first monthly meeting of the SIG on February 4.
"There are times for lectures and readings, but they need to occur
when students are prepared to appreciate the insights that they contain,"
Schwartz noted, and went on to show examples of evaluative methods that
assist both learner and teacher.
In attendance were faculty members and researchers from the School of
Engineering, School of Medicine, and the School of Education, as well
as scientists from SCIL.
This SIG is directed by Daniel
Schwartz, Professor, Stanford School of Education. The group meets
the first Tuesday of each month at 4:30 PM in Peter Wallenberg Learning
Theater, Wallenberg Hall (Building
160 on the Main Quadrangle).
